We’ll balance classic works by William Shakespeare, Homer, Sophocles, and Ovid with contemporary writing by authors such as Ray Bradbury, Martin Luther King, Jr., George Orwell, Sherman Alexie, Karen Russell, and Malala Yousafzai.
Through the study of a variety of text types and media, students will build knowledge, analyze ideas, delineate arguments, and develop writing, collaboration, and communication skills. To further the development of their reading and writing skills, students study grammar and vocabulary throughout the year. Lessons within each of the modules are guided explicitly by Grade 9/10 Common Core Learning Standards and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
